Crepe backed Satin – Charmeuse

Characteristics

• As its name suggests, this silk is a satin weave with a crepe back
• The front is a shimmery satin finish, the back a dull matt finish
• Both sides are equally beautiful so either can be used as the right side of a garment
• Light yet, strong with high tensile strength
• It’s an exquisite timeless silk with a lustrous shine, wonderful drape and sumptuous feel
• Once known as Charmeuse

Uses
An elegant, versatile silk with some natural elasticity that is suitable for scarves, blouses, nightgowns and lingerie.

The heavier 22 mm silk may be used to make silk pillowcases.
