H Dupont Clear Gutta, Water-based
H. Dupont Water-Based Gutta – resist for silk painting
H. Dupont Water-Based Gutta is a resist medium used in silk painting to create outlines, boundaries and fine detail work. It forms a temporary barrier on the surface of silk, preventing dyes from spreading into protected areas.
Unlike solvent-based guttas, this water-based version is easier to work with and integrates smoothly into studio practice. It allows for controlled line work and structured designs while still maintaining the softness of the fabric after finishing.
Once heat-set and washed, the resist is removed during the finishing process, leaving clean, defined colour areas.
Why use it
- Creates clear outlines and resist lines
- Prevents dye bleeding between sections
- Supports detailed silk painting designs
- Water-based and easy to apply
Usage guide
Apply using an applicator bottle or an applicator with stycone to dry silk; allow to dry fully before painting.
You can use a hair dryer to dry this gutta before painting.
To heat fix the gutta, dry iron (not steam) the silk on the wrong side for 2 to 3 minutes before steam-fixing the silk dye.
A reliable resist for structured, detailed silk painting work.
Available in 100ml and 250ml bottles.
