Lac

LAC is a dye extract from the scale insect Kerria lacca. Size: 50 gm

Dye colour Yields muted crimsons, burgundy reds and deep purples.

Mordants

For protein fibres - use alum mordant at 15% WOF. Use iron at 15% WOF for greys. Use copper at 15% WOF for purples.

For cellulose fibres - mordant with tannin at 8% WOF, then alum at 15% WOF or aluminium acetate at 8% WOF.
