H Dupont Silkwash - protects colour during the first wash

H Dupont Silkwash is an essential finishing product for steam-fixed silk. Specially formulated for the first wash after steaming, it helps prevent colours from bleeding into one another, preserving the clarity and integrity of your design.

After steam fixing, excess dye is naturally released during rinsing. Silkwash works by controlling this process, ensuring that any loose colour does not transfer onto lighter areas. This is particularly important in pieces that combine strong darks with delicate light tones, where even slight bleeding can compromise the result.

Using Silkwash allows you to rinse your work with confidence. Multiple pieces—even those with very different colour intensities—can be safely washed together in the same bath without risk of cross-staining.

How to use

After steam fixing, prepare a bath of approximately 4 litres of water with 50 ml of Silkwash. Submerge the silk and soak for 10–15 minutes as the first rinse.

Silkwash can also be used in a washing machine on a delicate cycle for the initial wash.
