Soda Ash – dye fixer for fibre reactive dyeing

Soda Ash (sodium carbonate) is used in fibre reactive dyeing to activate and fix dyes to cellulose fibres such as cotton and linen. It raises the pH of the dye bath, allowing the dye to form a permanent bond with the fibre.

It is typically added either as a pre-soak or introduced into the dye process in stages, depending on the technique being used. Once fixed, the colour becomes wash-fast and long-lasting.

Soda Ash is a standard and essential part of most fibre reactive dye systems.

Suitable for

Cotton, linen and other cellulose fibres

Why use it

  • Activates fibre reactive dyes like Procion Cold Water Dye
  • Fixes dye permanently to cellulose fibres
  • Improves wash fastness and colour durability
  • Essential step in reative dyeing

Usage guide

5–10% WOF for pre-soak or fixation bath (adjust depending on dye system and technique)

A fundamental material for reliable, permanent colour in fibre reactive dyeing.
