Tannic Acid

Tannic Acid – for mordanting plant-based fibres

Tannic Acid is used when dyeing cellulose fibres, for example cotton or linen. It acts as a mordant, helping natural dyes bond to the fibre so you get stronger, more reliable colour.

It’s typically used as the first step in a two-step mordanting process, followed by alum. Without it, many natural dyes will give pale or uneven results on plant fibres.

Easy to dissolve and straightforward to use, Tannic Acid is suitable for immersion dyeing, eco-printing and bundle dyeing.
