Urea
Urea – dye assist for fibre reactive printing and dyeing
Urea is used in textile dyeing and printing to help keep dyes dissolved and evenly active during application. It attracts and retains moisture, which allows dyes to stay open longer and improves flow, penetration and colour yield.
It is especially useful in printing pastes and hand painting techniques, where it helps prevent dyes from drying too quickly on fabric and supports more even, saturated results.
Urea is widely used in fibre reactive dye printing systems and is a common additive in textile studios.
Suitable for
Cotton, linen, silk and other natural fibres
Why use it
- Keeps dye solutions moist for longer working time
- Improves dye flow and penetration
- Helps achieve stronger, more even colour in printing
Usage guide
5–20% in print pastes or dye solutions depending on technique and humidity conditions
