Kamala

Kamala is obtained from the fruit of Mallotus philippinensis, a small tropical evergreen tree found in India.

Dye colour

Yields gold yellows to tangerines.

Mordants

• For protein fibres – use alum mordant at 15% WOF.
• For cellulose fibres – mordant with tannin at 8% WOF, then alum at 15% WOF or aluminium acetate at 8% WOF.
